The Independent National Electorate Commission (INEC) has assured that it would conduct a free fair and credible governorship poll in Edo state this Saturday.
INEC commissioner in charge of elections and party monitoring, Antonia T. Okoosi-Simbine, gave the assurance on Thursday, in Abuja, when PDP leaders stormed the Commission’s headquarters to present a position paper on Saturday’s poll.
The Commission informed the party that some measures of transparency like the virtual monitoring of the process and the signing of result sheets by the Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC) as requested by PDP has been put in place to ensure that the process was fair and transparent.
“The Commission is aware of your fears and we will do our best to deliver on a free, fair, credible and safe election.
“All the vehicles are being tracked to ensure and to be able to say where they are, at any point in time,” he said.
Earlier, the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus said the only legacy INEC could bequeath to the country was credible polls.
