Lamido Sanusi, former emir of Kano, has filed a suit before a federal high court in Abuja, seeking an order for his release from confinement following his dethronement as emir.
Sanusi is praying the court for an interim order against the Inspector-General of Police and the Firector-General of the DSS to release him “from the detention and or confinement and restore his rights to human dignity, personal liberty, freedom of association and movement in Nigeria, (apart from Kano State) pending the hearing and determination of the applicant’s originating summons.”
After he was dethroned on Monday, Sanusi was taken to Loko, a town in Nasarawa State, and subsequently taken to Awe local government area, still in Nasarawa State.
