The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the Ministry of Health, through the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and other relevant agencies, to step up measures against the new COVID-19 variant, Omicron.
This followed the adoption of a motion by Dachung Bagos (PDP, Plateau) who noted that Omicron had put the world on its toes and was spreading rapidly.
He said Nigeria must not take any chances in addressing the situation as the cases found in Canada had been linked to people who travelled or had been to Nigeria.
