Nigerian singer, Mike of famed Zule Zoo group, has been reported dead.
In the 2000s, Zule Zoo, comprising Micheal Aboh (Tiv) and Al-Hassan Ibrahim (Hausa) came into limelight after the success of their smash hit song, ‘Kerewa’, which was banned by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, NBC, for obscene content, held the whole country on a lockdown for the few years they dominated the airwaves with their spectacular dance steps and swaying moves.
Soon after, they suddenly disappeared from the main stream media.
In mid-2019, Michael was reported to have been mentally challenged owing to alleged drugs abuse.
Michael’s partner in the group, Hassan Ibrahim, aka Ibro, had revealed in 2019 that he had been “mentally unstable for a while”.
However, the deceased denied being mentally unhinged but admitted that he went through a challenging period.
“I don’t have any health challenge; but in life, you don’t expect everything to be hundred per cent.”
Michael was in his early 40s.
