Urgent Need for The Construction and Maintenance of Key Roads in Ikare Akoko *by F.E. Bamiduro

This is not the first time I am raising the issue of the Awara Dam Road, the only route that provides access to the Ikare Cocoa Farm in Ikare, Akoko.
Unfortunately, the road has long been neglected, and its current condition falls far short of what the town deserves. Immediate attention is needed to make this road accessible, as it is essential for the movement of people and the transport of farm produce, which forms a crucial part of the local economy.

Similarly, the new Okoja Road requires urgent intervention. This road leads to the burial site of Moses Orimolade, the founder of Cherubim and Seraphim worldwide, a site that attracts visitors from across Nigeria and even internationally. Maintaining and constructing this road to a motorable standard will not only benefit the residents of Ikare but also support tourism and preserve the dignity of this important cultural and religious landmark.
I call on our Senator and the Chairman of Akoko North East to live up to the expectations of the people by ensuring that infrastructural development does not create divisions within Ikare. Every quarter, including Awara, Okoja, and Ode-Yare, deserves fair treatment without favouritism or neglect. Proper construction and maintenance of these roads will significantly improve access to the dam, facilitate easier travel to farms, enhance the transportation of agricultural produce, and provide a welcoming route for visitors.
The development of these roads is not merely an infrastructural requirement; it is a vital step toward economic growth, social cohesion, and the overall well-being of the people of Ikare-Akoko.
It is imperative that our leaders act decisively and equitably to ensure that all parts of the town benefit, reflecting true commitment to the community and its progress. I do let Moyes aware that all my writeup does not have any political undertone I live in lagos close to 47 years. The betterment and development of Ikare Akoko is my concern and priority.
Let work together and make our Hill city a good place lived.
God bless Ikare, God bless Akoko land.
