Kemi Olokode-Ayelabola
The Chairperson of Asiwaju 4 Renewed Hope ’23 (ARH) in diaspora, Kemi Olokode-Ayelabola who is based in Navan, Republic of Ireland, has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will never disappoint them, stressing that he (President) will correct every perceived wrong of the past administrations and renew all lost and desirous hopes.
Kemi who was physically present in Nigeria during the Saturday February 25, 2023 election with over four thousand supporters and voters which she raised and mobilized for the election, under the umbrella of ARH, domiciled in Lagos, Oyo (Ibadan) and Ogun States, in a press statement personally signed by her on Friday June 2, 2023 said:
“Without being biased, I will conveniently say Asiwaju Bola Tinubu truly has the matrix to fix Nigeria’s myriad of problems and bring about that desirous change the citizenry are yearning for. I have worked with him personally for over 30 years and I assure you, he is an excellent manager of both human and material resources.”
While reminiscing on Tinubu’s antecedents in terms of excellent performances when he was Governor in Lagos State Kemi noted:
“Tinubu will shock his critics in terms of performance as President, don’t forget that when he held sway as Governor in Lagos, he was widely credited with reshaping Nigeria’s commercial hub, Lagos. Today Africa’s most populous country is facing a crumbling economy, widespread insecurity and high inflation. Many are already delighted that Tinubu has already hit the ground running immediately he took on one of Africa’s most daunting jobs on May 29, 2023, and I strongly assure everyone, Tinubu will perform creditably well and fix the socio-economic challenges bedeviling the country in record time.
“Here is a man once forced into exile by military ruler Sani Abacha, Tinubu knows the value of freedom, he even wears it as an insignia on his signature hat, a broken shackle that looks like a horizontal figure of eight. He was once a senator he understands how to engender robust and meaningful relationship with the legislature and he has deep understanding of how executive powers are wielded in tandem with the rule of law and the principles of separation of powers. He is a rounded politician.
“I can tell this story because I once lived in Lagos and I saw the feats Tinubu recorded in the state. Under his tenure, Lagos massively grew its income through huge foreign investment, while a public transport scheme that saw new lanes created for rapid buses eased the notorious traffic jams faced daily by commuters. Every Governor that has succeeded him has been a protégé following a grand roadmap and Lagos has attained tremendous progress.
In her reaction to the seismic shift in fuel subsidy regime, the ARH Chairperson said though at earlier stage it may take toll on the ordinary citizens but on the long run it would be better for the nation, adding that government should also introduce measures that will cushion the effect of the current economic intervention.
“Fuel subsidy has been a growing liability to Nigeria’s budgetary allocations for many years. The scheme also distort markets and discourage investments. At initial stage its removal may take serious toll on the ordinary citizens but in the long run the nation will be better for it.
“Meanwhile, my appeal also goes to the current government to urgently introduce stimulus packages that will cushion the effect of the subsidy removal, particularly in the interest of the downtrodden. However, in the spirit of patriotism and national rebirth, Nigerians should support Tinubu so that he can succeed and for Nigeria to also prosper.” The ARH convener stated.
