Chairman of Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Federal Ministry of Power, Hon. Danlami Mohammed Kurfi has on Sunday felicitated with the new President of Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mr. Eze Anaba, on his election.
This was contained in a statement on Sunday, June 19, 2023 and personally signed by Kurfi and made available to pressmen.
The REA Chairman’s statement read in part, “Congratulations to you, Mr. Eze Anaba on your victory as the new President of Nigerian Guild of Editors. I also commend you and your colleagues for the rancour-free conduct of the elections and the unanimous acceptance of the outcome, this has set a good standard for other unions to emulate.”
In expressing good wishes for Eze’s new tenure, Kurfi also congratulated those who emerged as members of the Standing Committee, both the re-elected and the ones who won fresh seats.
“Its really impressive to see the Guild electing a seasoned journalist like Anaba, a professional with requisite experience, it is my prayer that Mr. Anaba will utilise his new position as President of the Guild to promote discipline, ethical journalism and ultimately make practitioners to be socially responsible and putting the interest of the nation above any other interests.” Kurfi stated.
The former House of Representatives member therefore, enjoined the newly-elected executive to join President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidency in fighting and exposing malfeasance and to avoid negativism, urging the media to abstain from content that does not uphold the law, order, truth, fairness and national security.
