Elegance and poise were on display last Saturday, 5th of November, 2022, at the Kuta Day celebration. The event, hosted at the Kuta City Town Hall, by His Royal Majesty the Olowu of Kuta Kingdom, Oba Hameed Oyelude Makama Tegbosun ii, was the 32nd edition of the annual event designed to celebrate the values and heritage of the Kuta town of Osun State.
Dressed in his usual royal regalia that symbolizes his dignity, Oba Makama played host to thousands of attendees ranging from top socialites, fellow royals from within and outside, top businessmen and women and government functionaries.
The well-connected monarch declared during the event that the carnival-like celebration was not just about drumming, dancing, eating and drinking, but primarily to showcase the uniqueness of Owu Kuta community, build the pride of the indigenes and help renew their sense of patriotism, which is the bedrock of the harmony, peace and tolerance that the Owu Kuta kingdom has continued to enjoy under Oba Makama in the last ten years of his ascendancy.
The signatures of Oba Oyelude Makama is his intelligence and brilliance, including his knowledge of current affairs and world politics, some of the qualities that constantly earn him honours and reverence from far and near.
Remarkably, on the same date, Oba Oyelude was conferred with an award as BEST Awards’ ‘Royal Father of The Year’ organized by publishers of Buzz News. The awards organizers stated that the monarch was so honoured because he was loved by his subjects for guiding the culture and custom of Owu Kuta kingdom, as well as upholding kingship etiquettes.
One of the highlights of the Owu Kuta Day celebration was the launch of a N100m development appeal fundraising.
